This blog is dedicated to Tulip the Cat.
Tulip is blind. She was born with a condition called anophthalmia, meaning she had no viable eyeballs. Her eyes had to be removed, and her eyelids were sewn shut. This gives her her cute, sleepy appearance.
We adopted her through a shelter-animal advocacy group called FOCAS. This blog is dedicated to Tulip's adventures in her new home, and our adventures as owners of a blind cat.
Please feel free to leave comments and questions about our posts. We are by no means experts but will try to answer whatever we can. Thank you for taking interest in Tulip and her blog.

Hello, yes, I'm reading! Well, Sweetheart is still with me--it's been about 6 months now. She is so adorable! I read your blog about Tulip Kitty playing with her ball--well, Sweetheart has only recently learned how to play, and she's so CUTE!!! She loves to chase my hand back and forth under the covers, and she attacks everything she "suspects" to be there, on the floor, like under the bathroom doors, and at the side of the wall--it's like, "Shazam! I know there's something there!" And she attacks it. But, usually there's nothing there, maybe a piece of cloth--but she "gets it" anyway! haha And, I had some kittens there, for a while, some little ones. I think she really misses them, even though they were a little bit overwhelming for her, most of the time. I'm think I'm going to bring another kitten home for her, so she's not lonely. I wish my 14 yr old cat, Sammy, was warmer to her and didn't hate her guts so much--I'd keep her, myself. She's so awesome!!! But, Sammy can't stand her, so that is the only reason I can't adopt her.
She took a long time to actually "sleep on the bed" with me, but now, she's inseparable from me, wherever I go. She loves to snuggle--but it took a few months to win her over. She's still very shaky, and she still needs her phenabarbitol twice a day, and she still has VERY VERY LIGHT seizures, about once a month, but nothing like the gran mals she used to have.
Yes, she really needs a loving., caring, SPECIAL home, where she will be able to bond with one purr~son, like she wants to bond with me. I feel so bad, because I know I can't keep her.. It's heartbreaking that I cannot be the furrever home she so desperately craves... If only... Gaawd, I love her so much, but my Sammy cat I've had for 14 years, and when I got her, she was so scared and abused, and I promised Sammy I would take care of her forever, and Sammy does not want to love Sweetheart, like I do. I love Sweetheart to pieces, but I owe Sammy my loyalty. It's such a sad situation.
I guess that is sort of a very long, detailed answer to your question... She's still with me. I will love her and care for her as long as need be, but I so wish that one special furrever pet-parent for Sweetheart would show up soon. She deserves better.
Kisses and head-scratches to Tulip, from me and Sammy and Sweetheart.
*smiles* Kat
Hi, Kat. Thanks for the update. We hope things work out for Sweetheart soon. She sounds SO cool. It's too bad that Sammy won't warm up to her. What distinct little personalities cats have!
